Taylor's College Open Day

22nd June which was last sunday!

5 of us who were scholarship holders had to help out during the event.

This includes giving counselling to parents, visitors and students about the courses we offer, loans, personal opinions of the particular course and other information which they wish to know!

At the beginning, it was sCARY!!

As Semester 1 students, COUNSELLING?? whoa..

so we left it to benjamin, cynthia and our lecturers to do the first move.

Me, shibi and kijun were invcharge of most tours !

Taking the people around college, to our studios, workplace, lecture halls and many others!

After my 1st tour, the job seems to be SO MUCH FUN!

Its definitely exciting talking about how you feel as a student about this course, what we actually do in studios, some things about our lecturers, and above all, showing them our works, sketch journals, photomontages, models and portfolios which are still displayed in the studio!

To be frank,

most parents love to hear opinions from students themselves, those who actually went through the courses and knew just what a new student had to do.

Sometimes when you are asked of things we are not sure of, do not simply give out answers..opinions about it..maybe but it is still best to consult our lecturers!

Honesty!

God's Perspective

We often do not see success from God's perspective.

We see it from the perspective of the world.

And..we measure success in the eyes of the world.

God is Good to those who are pure in heart.

Have u ever wondered why wicked people live so long?

Because GOD is merciful and wants them to repent.

If the Devil can tempt Jesus, he can definitely tempt you.

Do not give in to temptations and wickedness.

Because what wicked people have is temporary.

And what we have is eternal as our Greatest Treasure is God.

May we not be so short-sighted and look at things that are temporal.

Get into the presence of God.

Love Him with all your heart.

Draw near to God and declare all his works.

Whats the point of gaining the whole world but loose yr soul?

We should not weight treasures of the earth.

But see TREASURES through God's eyes.

which is the poorest person on earth.

And that alone outweighs all the treasures of the earth.

God loves everyone. And he wants us to love our neighbours as ourselves.

If we have Jesus in us, we have everything.

There are some things that $$ can't buy. So, VALUE THEM!

We will stumble when we choose to fix our eyes on the wicked and see success only in physical and material terms. Many Christians stray away wooed by the pleasures of this world!

$$ can buy u a house........but not a HOME.

a good life.......but not eternal life.

a bed...............but not good sleep.

medicine.........but not health.

With God, we will have peace in our homes, joy in the house, family members and children doing well and ultimately nobodu cares if your family is broken!

Orphans without a father will have an eternal father in heaven.

So, tell me..who cares?

some things to ponder upon

I am a human being, a Christian, sinful, yet saved by the Love of God which is in Christ.

He who communicates well with God, communicates well with people.

It kills us when we don't hear God's voice.

We will be like sheeps without a shepherd.

You can fool some people all the time;

You can fool all the people some of the time; but

YOU can never fool all the people all the time.

We need revival on our own generation!

Jesus touched a soft spot.

a young king : Jesus..how do i earn salvation?

Jesus : sell all of your riches and follow me.!

a young king : turned away.

We cannot concentrate on favour with men more than fovour with God.

Both must go together!

The saddest thing in life is when :

"there is nothing for me to learn anymore" (like a dead corpse walking)

Our identity comes from God, in Christ alone!

As Christians, we live a life that costs.

We must be confident Messengers!
And we need to have P.O.I.S.E.


P = Rock solid Principles.
O = Openness for creativity and innovation.
I = In christ alone we have Security and Significance.

S = Servant leadership
(there is no need for Glow, Girl & Gold! but to wash one another's feet)
E = Ever mindful of Eternity (there's more than just what we see)

Do not live on the things of the world as judgement will be starting in the house of God.

Be ready to die. If the master of communication (Jesus) was crucified..what makes us??

Be mindful that our names can be erased from the BOOK OF LIFE.

We should allow God to influence our dress sense

and how we carry ourselves in his image.

This includes no gossips and no usage of foul words ultimately.

A confident messenger touches the heart of others, and brings about change, something better in life.

Our state of mind = determines attitude.

Lord, give us what we can handle as we need not be a multi-millionaire.

Life on Earth is temporary and we must be

willing to share our riches in good deeds to the poor and the needy

as good deeds are treasures that will not be taken away from us.

Earthly treasures = Eternal treasures when we learn to share and be faithful to God and the little things in life.

Proverbs 33 :4 says thats Riches HAVE WINGS TOO !

money = 4 corners = 4 legs

US = 2 legs only!

So when u chase money, money will run faster.

To be wealthy, we must be faithful. And when we are faithful, God provides.

And when money chases after u, u can never run away!!!

image matters?

A brand is built with substance and foundation, while
Image is built with time.

It is not necessary that you'll have a GOOD image if you're successful!

We live in a world of change, a world driven by technology.
We are actually in a global village.
Internet and mobile connectivity are our driving lifestyles and competition to unimaginable heights.
Expectations on performance are high.
The pressure on today's generation is indescribable. ITS NO FUN.!
And because of the high expectancy and competition, many young people are desperate and coping becomes a problem.
In Japan? Singapore? Suicide rates are rising!!

WHY?
What are young people becoming?

1. idealistic, materialistic and individualistic.
2. driven by technology. Not with their families.
3. lifestyle. I need = become what I WANT.
4. money. There is never enough $$
5. impatience. Changing jobs is like changing clothes.
6. looks and image. Young ppl desires to be different.
7. values. Sex is nothing?

our identity + image = will be lost if we give in to temptations
in us = emptiness.

WHY IMAGE?

image is relational.
We need an identity that ppl can recognise us by.
Image that ppl will like.
To fill the voilds in our lives.

people want to belong!
people wear/ use/ buy brands that say something about them!

"I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knows it well." Psalm139 :14

We have to make choices for what we stand for.

God loves you and do not want you to perish.

But many chose to go the other direction.

We must believe that we, black white skinny plusSized tall short old young ..can make a difference!

We, as Christians cannot be one of them
but we can be their company.

We cannot serve money and serve God the same.

We communicate by deep conviction and the power of the Holy Spirit.

We must have compassion, humility and love.

We should have the fruits of the spirit!
Love joy peace longsuffering gentleness goodness faith meekness and temperence.

Image is who you represent.
It matters. Your image is your choice for yourself, it is your conscious choice.
The choice is between the right and the wrong.
Remember, image is a likeness and a resemblance of the character or reputation.
So, whose image are u representing?!!

It is said that action speaks louder than words. While it is true,one cannot deny the power of the tongue.

Double Listening? whats that?
1. Listening to the Word of God.
2. Listening to the World.

We have to LISTEN, SEE, and SPEAK.

A message to the young adults.

The challenge in the marketplace is real.
We face constant pressure to perform, to be strong, to succeed.
Competition is stiff, and we are assessed all the time,deadlines to meet and targets to achieve.
There is also the need to choose the right person for our life.
Above all, there is the call to serve and be more involved in church!

BE AN INFLUENCE !!
but to be an influence, you must be able to see what God sees.

"Better the little that the righteous have than the wealth of the wicked" Psalm 37:16

In the marketplace, there are corruption and injustice to the poor.

Amos 5:4 Seek me and live "GOD IS ALIVE" !!
and you shall be successful in everything!

renewing our mind by the spirit ~~ to a mind of Christ by humility.

By depending on God, we will be successful and prosporous.
If we are faithfulin small things, God will give us bigger things to do!

Listen more than you talk.
Because you have 2 ears and only 1 mouth xD

We have to Practise the presence of God.
We have to draw strength from the Lord.

the brazillian regular roasted coffee beans (brazil cerrado) were delivered and I did the sort outs ..weighed the beans..grinded them and prepared the coffee..yeah..its been a routine already =D

after she called me that..everyone started calling me that..

Dear God,

Thank you for showing me that the gifts you've placed in my life aren't for me at all. They are intended to bring glory to you and now that I know the truth, I will not hold back. I will work to identify and develop every single gift and when someone asks me about them, I will have a chance to tell that person about you, although now I'm not use to doing that. Thank you Lord for all the special gifts and abilities you've given me because I don't deserve anything from you. I once even sweared that I would not take up professions that have to do with art. I have always been looking down on myself and my abilities, sometimes shutting myself down from the art world. What Im experiencing now is totally different than what I've always dreamed of. A future of science. And yet, you have been so generous, opening me up to things I never imagined I would be doing. And by seeing my gifts, it keeps me from focusing on my weaknesses. Everytime I use my gift Lord, I pray that it would be pleasing to you. And that it would bring joy to your heart, although its just a tiny little something I've done. Help me to be proud of my works and not to give up half way. And that it would show the world that you are much more than a God way up in heaven who doesn't care about us or what we're doing. A God that keeps on guiding us and walking with us in college, work, anywhere. Thank you Lord for being there. Being a provider of comfort, family and friends. And in return, I promise to keep on making the most of everything I've been given. Amen.
